I took 2 days off from running since the Milo Marathon last sunday Aug.3. On Wednesday, I came back on the road again. I started with a 5k speed running on campus for about 45mins. Then on Thursday, I did a 14k speed endurance. Trying to maintain a consistent speed for a period of time. At the end of the 14k, I just felt exhausted, I completed the run in 1 hr. 16mins.
Friday and Saturday, I rested and ate as much as I can. The best is on Sunday. I did a combination of distance running, walk, jog and lastly speed endurance at Talisay. I started running at 5:30am with Aldwin towards Olivarez from the back road as usual. We reach the junction within 1:hr 13min (approximately 12k). Then we seperated at the juction, Aldwin was heading towards Olivarez while I was heading towards Talisay. At the junction to Talisay, since it was pretty steep, I walk down. Didn’t want to give to much pressure on my knee. Its easy to get injured going down a steep hill.
Jennifer and Maam Beth was waiting for me on the way down to Talisay. They had planned earlier to join me running since HA decided to go for mountain climbing. We went down for about 4-5k. Then we ran back up the steepy hill of Talisay.
Talisay, is the best place to improve speed. Once in a while we would come here to improve our speed.
- this was going down, its easy and nice to run down. The challenge is running back up. At this time I was already running for 1 hr.25mins. Its around 7am in the morning.
- the beginning of the endurance. Just what I said, its easy and nice to go down, coming back up…hmmm,,,, its tiring. The mind is tired!. But I still have a long way up…
- these 2 ladies were enjoying buko while I was struggling to run up. Any way I could not resist the temptation of having some buko…
- picture taking time. We still have a long way up to the top.
- Continueing the journey up…
-Im a bit tired by now, but I still have a long way up. Starting to loose focus, but Im telling myself, “U can Mac! u can!”
- You can do it, Jenn!!… COme on…this is the steepest part. And I know how hard it is.
(this is the most steepest and hardest part of the road. this is the best part to speed all the way).
- the 100m sprinter…
These ladies can’t help going down hill. they suppose to run up not going down by now… Just what I said, its nice to run down….
- A perfect view of the Taal lake from halfway to the top.
- At las we made it to the top. The red dot on the left is where I started my hill running.
- We just can’t help of not stopping in Chow King. I was giving my wordpress add. to Beverly so she could see her picture in my blog.
- Breakfast at Chow King. I had my Goto n black gulaman while both ladies had their fav. breakfast bangus. What a day.
I don’t know how far have I run today. If I culculated, it could reach 25k or more since I didn’t time my way down coz I was walking to avoid giving pressure to my knees. Its good to be back on training. I still have 2 Big Marathons to run. BorneoInternational Marathon in Sabah on Oct. 12 and the 32nd Milo Marathon FINALS in November. In between these 2 events, will be joining some races in Manila as a preparation for the bigger events. Total hours of running 1 hr. 50mins (speed & jog) – I don’t time when I walk.

Great work out Mac. And superb view. I wonder if there’ll ever come a time when I could also do the same… I started running at a very late age. Well, as the saying goes–better late than never.
Nora, the golden girl
Hi Nora, that’s right, better late than never. Well, there’s always time for a change in life. For me, I see the importance of staying fit and healthy at a young age. Hopefully when I come to your age, I’ll still be fit and healthy to still run a marathon.
My 2 friends, Maam Beth is around 55 (or more). And Jenn is about 29. Both of them just start running and hopefully will be able to run their first 5k.
regarding the nike race this Aug. 31st. I can’t remember where I got the info. If Im not mistaken, I got it from one of the runner’s blog. Any way, you also can log in to this website. http://philrunners.netfirms.com/schedule.htm . You can find all the race schedule here.
