I never thought that there would be a half-marathon event organized in Sta. Rosa. Since most of the runners are from Manila, it would be hard to organized one outside the comfort zone of many. But eventhough, many still decided to take the trouble to come over to Sta. Rosa to experience a different kind of running atmosphere. It is more countryside out here with crowded roads.
I seldom do my distance around Sta. Rosa. for a number of reasons. First, the roads are too crowded-means it is dangerous especially with big vehicles coming infront of you. Second, drivers drive their vehicle as if the roads belong to them- they just overtake anytime and stop at anywhere they like! Third, its easy to run to Sta. Rosa but hard to return back home to Silang. I have to take 3 rides in order for me to return home. For these 3 reasons, I dare not take the risk to go that direction but instead towards Tagaytay for my long sunday runs.
Last sunday’s half marathon event was considered to be my last and final half-marathon event but not my final race yet. I still have a full marathon to run on May 10 and that will end up my running activity in the Philippines. I am schedule to return back to Malaysia by middle of May. To return for good!. Since it was my final half marathon event, I try to make the best out of it. And I did by accomplish two things. 1. Maintaining a pace of 5 mins – Which I successfully did but some lapses especially towards the final stage of the event. 2. To redeem my time at Condura where I finished 1hr 48mins and I successfully did it here in Sta Rosa with the time- 1 hr 46mins. rank 26. I don’t know if I will ever go below 1 hr 46mins, but Im not worried about it- the most important thing is to complete the event, injury free and go home happy and satisfied!

Ron, the youngest runner in the team! Completed the said race with the time 19mins. Congrats Ron!

One thing about running is that it influence others without you realizing it! I have a saying, “If you want influence, influence yourself first before influencing others” These ladies has influence each other that they started to enjoy running!.. Congrats ladies, see you all on May 10!

My Final half-marathon event in the Philippines. Looking forward to run more half-marathon in Malaysia.
